There is one main difference between the Hamilton Beach Scoop and FlexBrew:

  • The Scoop model only brews ground coffee,
  • While the FlexBrew can brew both ground coffee and K-Cup pods.

Other than that, the difference is mainly in the design.

So, Which One Do You Choose?

This is a simple pick, and it all relies on whether or not you want to use K-Cup pods:

  • Having the option to brew K-Cup pods means that you can brew a lot more than just coffee, since K-Cup pods are available in a large selection of brands and drinks like hot chocolate, tea, cappuccino, latte, hot cider and more. If that’s something you want, then go for the FlexBrew.
  • If you don’t want to brew K-Cup pods, then your best choice would be the Hamilton Beach Scoop.

Hamilton Beach Scoop Compared To Other Brands:

Hamilton Beach Scoop vs. BUNN MCU:

BUNN MCU is another single-serve coffee maker that uses coffee ground. What makes it special though is that it has additional attachments for brewing K-Cup pods, soft pods, tea bags and loose tea, as well as hot water. This makes it a lot more versatile than Hamilton Beach Scoop.

Like the Hamilton Beach scoop, the largest capacity BUNN MCU can brew is 14 oz. Although the BUNN is faster at brewing, since it can brew a cup in under a minute, while it takes the Hamilton Beach up to 90 seconds to brew a cup.

You can learn more about BUNN MCU here.

Hamilton Beach Scoop vs. Keurig:

While there are many Keurig models to compare, we’re comparing the Hamilton Beach Scoop to Keurig K15 Mini since it’s the most comparable in terms of features and price point.

Keurig machines are made to brew K-Cup pods. However, like the Hamilton Beach Scoop, it can also brew ground coffee, but only by using a K-Cup pod filter. This K-cup filter is purchased separately.

Capacity wise, the Keurig K15 can brew up to 10 oz and cannot accommodate travel mugs.

Can I Use Instant Coffee In My Keurig Machine?

Keurig coffee makers brew coffee quickly. So quickly that K-Cups are usually mistaken for Instant coffee. If you’re wondering the same, rest assured that the coffee in K-Cups is real ground coffee and not Instant coffee.

Can Instant Coffee Be Used in a Keurig? Or Any Coffee Maker?

Before answering the question. Let’s understand what instant coffee is and how it’s made:

The name Instant Coffee is referred to any coffee that is prepared, well, instantly. It’s the type of coffee that melts in hot water and turns into a cup ready to drink, immediately.

Instant coffee is made from real coffee beans that have been processed in different methods to turn them into a coffee concentrate then into the granulate form they’re sold as. This type of coffee melts in hot water, leaving no coffee ground to clean. And as we all already know, it’s instantly prepared and requires no brew time.

Watch how instant coffee is made here:

So, to answer the question, can you use Instant coffee in a Keurig machine?

If you use reusable K-Cup filters with your Keurig, and you’re considering filling them up with instant coffee, then that would be a really bad idea. The instant coffee will melt as soon as the machine runs the hot water through the filter, so there’s no point in having that instant coffee in the machine in the first place. Same goes to any coffee maker.

If you’re a fan of instant coffee, then there’s no need to use any type of coffee machine to prepare it. That’s why many people prepare instant coffee to ground coffee. Because it requires no brewing time or any special type of machine.

For your Keurig machine, however, you’ll need coffee ground. It can be any brand you like, but you’ll have to make sure that it’s ground on the coarse side rather than a fine grind.

Nespresso Creatista or Lattissima Pro, Which of These Is Best for Latte/Cappuccino?

If milk based coffee drinks like Cappuccino or Latte are your favorite coffee drinks, then it’s highly recommended that your coffee machine has a built-in milk frother that will automatically heat and froth the milk. These kind of coffee makers will save you a lot of time when making your favorite drinks.

You can choose an espresso machine with a built-in milk from many brands, but in this post, we’re focusing on two of Nespresso’s most popular choices, Nespresso Lattissima Pro and Nespresso Creatista by Breville.

  • Colored LCD display allows you to easily program your machines’s settings, customize your drinks and more.
  • Water reservoir capacity: 1.5L

What Is The Difference Between Creatista vs. Creatista Plus?

There’s a difference in the amount of options you have:

  • Creatista Plus has 11 milk temperature settings, while the Creatista has only 3.

Then, there’s a difference in material:

  • Creatista Plus has full stainless steel housing. Creatista has some stainless steel parts (front panel for the most part), with colored side panels.

Heat up time is another difference. Creatista Plus has a quick 3-second heat up time, Creatista is slightly slower with 10 second heat up time.

One of the biggest difference between the Lattissima Pro and Creatista is customization. Creatista is designed to allow you to make more professional and barista-style drinks at home thanks to two features:

  • Automatic micro-foaming
  • Milk temperature settings.

Micro-foaming is what commercial-style espresso makers use to heat and froth milk using steam wand. The steamed milk is created with micro bubbles that give you a more creamy and smoother texture. It will also allow you to create beautiful and professional latte art (but that will take some practice on your part).

  • On the other hand, the Lattissima Pro can create delicious coffee drinks, but there’s no way for you to customize the temperature of the milk. The frothed milk’s density can be customized, however, it is not micro-foamed. The quality of the frothed milk here is similar to that created using an electric milk frother.

  • The LCD display on the Creatista is colored, and it features nice icons and it fully guides you through the process. Customization is done by turning a dial next to the display. On the Lattissima Pro, the LCD display only displays texts. There are multiple touch buttons on the control panel for choosing your settings.

Which One Do You Choose?

  • If you want more authentic coffee drinks, true customization and the chance to practice real latte art, then you’ll have to choose the Creatista by Breville.
  • If you want your coffee drinks, quick and easy but still delicious and fresh, the Lattissima Pro is great for just that. Although your customization is limited to coffee volume and froth density, if the quality or texture of the milk or temperature is not important to you, then go for the Lattissima Pro.

Everything You Need To Know About Senseo Coffee Maker by Philips

What Is Senseo Coffee Maker?

Senseo has been available for a long time in Europe, where people are really fussy about their coffee! And it’s the first pick for a single-serve coffee maker at home because of the great quality of coffee it produces that meets the European standard.

Senseo is a single-serve coffee maker by Philips. It can brew a single cup (4 oz) or two cups at the same time. Alternatively, you can brew two cups into a single mug (8 oz) for a stronger and larger cup of coffee.

Like many single-serve coffee makers, Senseo is a push-button operation. You can select from a single or double cups. You can also select your intensity by brewing a short cup or a long cup.

How Does Senseo Coffee Maker Work?

Using a Senseo requires no hard work on your part. All you have to do is insert a coffee pod and select your cup size. It includes two pod holders, you can use one if you want to brew a single cup, or both holders to brew two pods at the same time, which can be brewed into two 4 oz cups or one 8 oz mug.

Upon size selection, the machine will do its work. It pumps the right amount of water for your selected cup size to deliver perfectly measured and balanced cup of coffee.

What Kind of Pods Does Senseo Use?

This is a major breaking point when it comes to picking a single-serve coffee maker. Since each single serve machine uses it’s own type of pods and capsules, it’s quite a commitment!

Senseo, though, does not use special kind of pods that have been engineered just for it. In fact, it uses soft coffee pods (the flat puck type) which have been around for the longest time. These pods are available from Senseo brand, which is produced by Douwe Egberts, or from other brands like Melitta, Folgers and more.

These pods contain nothing but ground coffee, no sugar or additives. So all you’re getting is a fresh cup of coffee. It’s available in different roasts and intensities.

Keurig is more than just a single-serve coffee maker. It’s actually a beverage center that can make coffee, tea, hot chocolate and even iced drinks (depending on the model). Also, Keurig has more cup options that can go up to 14 oz cups or 32 oz carafe. That makes Keurig a lot more versatile than Senseo. But although Senseo is kind of limited in what it does, it’s known to produce a stronger cup of coffee than Keurig.

When it comes to pods, Keurig uses K-Cup pods, which are available in the widest range and variety, coming from hundreds of brands. This is where Keurig truly wins. Whether you choose a Keurig Classic or Keurig 2.0, you’ll get versatility at its best.

Nespresso carries two type of coffee makers:

  • Nespresso OriginalLine, which brews espresso only.
  • Nespresso VertuoLine, which makes espresso as well as coffee.

Either line, Nespresso is entirely different than what Senseo is. Nespresso makes the best choice for someone who wants to make espresso or espresso based drinks like cappuccino, latte or macchiato, that’s when you include a frother with it. Senseo, on the other hand, is a coffee maker. Although you might find some Cappuccino pods for Senseo, they’re not nearly as authentic, since you’ll be using coffee and packed powdered milk to make it. As with Nespresso, you’ll make your drinks using fresh frothed milk and a fresh shot of espresso.

Nespresso machines use capsules exclusive to their system. The OriginalLine machines have some compatible capsules from other brands, but VertuoLine capsules are still exclusive to Nespresso.

Are There Refillable Senseo Pods?

Yes, you should find some refillable pod options for Senseo that you can fill with your own choice of coffee ground. However, it’s not recommended that you use them. Or, if you choose to use them, keep in mind that it’s going to be a hassle until you find the right coffee consistency and amount to produce a good cup of coffee. That’s why we recommend using official coffee pods, they’re perfectly measured to make you the best cup.

Should I Buy Senseo Coffee Maker?

Senseo is a great machine for brewing soft pod coffee. And it produces a nice and strong cup of coffee. However, it’s lack of versatility makes the machine overpriced* for what it is. (*as of the time of writing this post, at least!)

If you want to brew soft pod coffee, which is one of the most convenient way to make a single cup, there are other machines that do the same job for less of Senseo’s price. For example, we would highly recommend BUNN’s MCU My Cafe, which for less than Senseo’s price, it will brew a soft pod, K-cup, ground coffee and tea (bags or loose).

BUNN MCU Single Cup Coffee Maker – How It Compares to Keurig and Cuisinart

When it comes to single-serve coffee makers, many users look for versatility as an important feature of their coffee maker. This is perhaps one of the reasons Keurig coffee makers are popular, it’s due to its versatility in brewing coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cold drinks from a large selection of brands. But Keurig isn’t the only coffee maker that has this feature. In fact, there are a few coffee maker brands that do the same. And in today’s post, we’re focusing on BUNN MCU Multi-Use coffee maker, and you’ll be surprised to see that it is even more versatile than many other machines!

BUNN MCU vs. Keurig, How Are They Different?

To be as fair as possible, we’re comparing the BUNN MCU to the Keurig K15 Mini, which is the most comparable to the BUNN MCU since both are compact and they type that don’t have a reservoir but can be filled up with water at each brew cycle.

Overall, Keurig can brew K-Cup pods which include coffee K-pods, tea K-pods, hot chocolate and other beverages. It can also brew ground coffee using refillable K-cup filters (which you purchase separately). Unlike BUNN MCU, it does not brew soft pods, tea bags or loose tea. Also, another feature that is missing from the K15 is strength control. With the BUNN MCU, you can use Pulse Brew feature to make a bolder cup of coffee.

And if serving sizes is important to you, using the K15 you’ll be able to brew 10 oz max. With the BUNN MCU, you can brew up to 14 oz.

Features of the Keurig K15:

  • Compact single-serve K-Cup brewer.
  • Brews serving sizes 6 oz , 8 oz and 10 oz.
  • Fill up with water tank with fresh water at every brew.

Click here to learn more about Keurig K15, read the customer reviews and buy it.

BUNN MCU vs. Cuisinart SS-5 Single-Serve Coffee Maker:

Another contender to the BUNN MCU is Cuisinart. Although they are not entirely comparable, yet many people feel like they want to choose between them.

The Cuisinart SS-5 is a K-Cup brewer, so it works just like a Keurig coffee maker. It brews K-cup pods of any kind, including refillable ones. In fact, it includes a refillable cup so you don’t have to purchase one separately.

Unlike the BUNN MCU, this Cuisinart has a reservoir with 40 oz capacity. This means you don’t have to fill up the reservoir at each brew.

As for serving sizes, the Cuisinart SS-5 brews 6 oz, 8 oz and 10 oz servings, with a button dedicated for each cup size.

Features of Cuisinart SS-5:

  • K-Cup brewer by Cuisinart.
  • Brews cup sizes 6, 8 and 10 oz.
  • Removable water reservoir with 40 oz capacity.
  • Includes a refillable K-Cup filter for brewing ground coffee.
  • Also includes a charcoal water filter.

Click here to learn more about Cuisinart SS-5, read the customer reviews and buy it.

Which Model Do You Choose?

Between these three models, our favorite is definitely BUNN’s MCU. Here’s why:

  • It brews up to 14 oz of coffee. This is the largest serving either of these models has to offer, and it’s a serving size that any one who drinks from a travel mug will appreciate.
  • It is the most versatile for sure. Although they all brew K-Cup and ground coffee (using refillable K-Cup filters),  BUNN MCU is the only model that includes inserts for all brewing types includes K-Cups, ground coffee or loose tea, soft pods and hot water on demand. Meaning, you don’t have to purchase any additional accessories separately.
  • It has strength control feature. Using Pulse Brew, you can make your coffee brew stronger.
  • the MCU has stainless steel casing with some plastic parts, unlike the other models that have plastic housing. This makes it more durable to use and clean.

The Gourmia GCM6500 is available in a different variation under the model number GCM5500. The difference between them is:

  • Slight design differences.
  • On the GCM5500 there are four drink options: Espresso, Lungo, Cappuccino and Latte. While on the GCM6500, there are three options: Espresso, Cappuccino and Latte.

What About Gourmia GCM6000?

The GCM6000 is a K-Cup compatible machine, like the GCM4000. How it’s different though is that it makes tea in addition to coffee. But of course, any K-Cup compatible machine should be able to make tea, right? Yes, that’s correct. But the GCM doesn’t only make coffee and tea using K-Cups, it can also brew loose tea leaves. And with its built-in milk frother, you’ll be able to make drinks like cappuccino, latte and chai latte.

Click here to learn more about the Gourmia GCM6000, read the customer reviews and buy it.

What Is The Difference Between GCM4000 vs. GCM5000 vs. GCM6500/5500:

All of these Gourmia coffee makers are automated touch-one systems that make coffee drinks with a push of a button. The difference is in their coffee pod compatibility:

  • Gourmia GCM4000 is compatible with K-Cup pods only. You can make regular coffee, Cappuccino or Latte with it.
  • Gourmia GCM5000 is compatible with K-Cup pods and Nespresso pods, making it the most versatile and able to brew coffee and espresso.
  • Gourmia GCM6500/5500 is compatible with Nespresso capsules only.

As for their milk frothers:

  • GCM4000 and GCM6500/5500 have detachable milk frothing containers. The containers will heat, froth and automatically add the frothy milk into your cup. And since they are detachable, it will allow you to store left over milk in the fridge.
  • On the GCM5000, the milk frother has a difference style. It is built into the base of the coffee machine, but it does not pour the milk into the cup automatically. After it is done frothing, you pick it up and pour the frothy milk into the cup. On the other hand, it has the option for hot or cold froth.

Other Options:

  • The Gourmia GCM5000 has customization options that are not on the other models. You have the option of setting the coffee temperature and cup size.
  • On the GCM4000, each coffee selection has an option of two sizes, but there is no temperature settings.

Buttons and Controls:

  • The GCM5000 is the only model with an LCD display. Since it has customization

Which One Do You Buy?

Picking the right model starts with which coffee pods do you prefer:

  • If you want to use both K-Cup and Nespresso pods, the GCM5000 will be your best option. It combines two systems in one thanks to its SmartCart inserts and customization option. With this model, you’ll be able to make coffee, espresso and espresso based drinks like cappuccino and late.
  • If you’re a fan of K-Cup pods, which are available in a wide range of coffee drinks from many famous brands like Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Folgers, Green Mountain and many more, the model GCM4000 is the right choice for you. Drink options on the GCM4000: Coffee, Cappuccino and Latte.
  • Last but certainly not least is the GCM6500/5500. This model is mostly for espresso and espresso based drinks, and it is compatible with Nespresso capsules only. Using this model, you can make espresso, cappuccino and latte.

Dolce Gusto vs. Nespresso – What’s The Difference Between Them?

We continue our comparisons between single-serve coffee maker to help you decide which is the best one for your needs. This time, we’re looking at the difference between Nescafe Dolce Gusto and Nespresso. Two coffee makers that are seemingly similar, but serve two different uses.

Although both Dolce Gusto and Nespresso come from the same parent company, Nestle, they’re not similar. And that’s what we will discuss in details below.

What Is Dolce Gusto And How Does It Work?

Let’s start with Dolce Gusto. It’s a single-serve beverage maker that uses its own pods to make popular hot or cold beverages like coffee, cappuccino, latte, iced tea, iced coffee and more. Using a Dolce Gusto machine is fairly simple. Insert a pod, set intensity level – which is usually instructed on the box of the drink you’re making but can also be customized, and hit the brew button. A switch on the machine allows you to toggle between hot or cold drinks, but for cold drinks, you’ll have to use Dolce Gusto pods that are made especially for cold brewing.

Dolce Gusto Machines:

There are several Dolce Gusto brewers available, the most popular models being Esperta and Genio, which we compared in a previous post.

Let’s do a quick recap of their features:

Dolce Gusto Genio 2 Coffee Maker:

  • Pressure pump with power up to 15-bars to provide the best quality of coffee no matter what pod or drink you’re preparing.
  • LED bar indicator with 8-level intensity  and volume control.
  • Switch between hot or cold drink brewing with a toggle.
  • 45 oz water reservoir capacity.

Dolce Gusto Esperta Coffee Maker:

Esperta offers everything the Genio 2 has but with a larger 60 oz water reservoir and some design changes.

What Drinks Can Dolce Gusto Make?

  • Coffee (different roasts available, from light to dark roast).
  • Cafe Au Lait
  • Espresso
  • Cappuccino
  • Espresso
  • Mocha
  • Chococino (Hot chocolate)
  • Americano
  • Caramel Latte Macchiato
  • Vanilla Latte
  • Peach Iced Tea
  • Iced Cappuccino

Varieties of these drinks are available either in different flavors, or as decaf or skinny. In total, Dolce Gusto offers over 20 variety of drinks.

Is Dolce Gusto Instant Coffee?

For the most part, no it is ground coffee packed inside the pods. Dolce Gusto also makes milk pods for their milk-based drinks. However, as their website says, there are three drinks which contain instant coffee and they are: Iced Cappuccino, Mocha, and Café au Lait.

Note On How Dolce Gusto Milk Based Drinks Are Made:

Dolce Gusto machines do not include a milk frother to make traditional milk-based drinks like Cappuccino or Latte. Instead, it packs powdered milk in pods. So when it comes to making a milk-based drinks, you’ll use two pods: the milk pod then the coffee pod. If you prefer to use fresh milk, you can always buy a milk frother separately.

Can I Keep Using the Same Dolce Gusto Pod More Than Once?

No, Dolce Gusto pods are made to be used just once. The same goes for all pod coffee makers, except, of course, for reusable pod filters.

Can You Use Other Coffee in Dolce  Gusto Coffee Makers?

If you want to use your own coffee with a Dolce Gusto coffee maker, you can use refillable pods. These are not official pods, though, and are made by 3rd party companies. So, quality of the pods and coffee is not guaranteed.

Capsule wise, Dolce Gusto is compatible with its own capsules only. So you can’t use Nespresso, Keurig K-Cups or any other capsules with it.

What Is Nespresso and How Does It Work?

Nespresso is a single-serve espresso and coffee machine. Using Nespresso capsules, you can make espresso and espresso-based drinks like Cappuccino, Latte or Macchiato.

There are two type of Nespresso Machines:

Nespresso OriginalLine: These are the original Nespresso machines that make Espresso only (and any espresso based drink, of course). OriginalLine machines include: CitiZ, Pixie, Inissia, Lattissima and more.

Nespresso VertuoLine: This line of Nespresso machines can make espresso as well as coffee. They use capsules that are entirely different in design than the OriginalLine capsules. Yet, you can expect the same premium quality. The VertuoLine line includes the machines: VertuoLine, Evoluo/Evoluo Deluxe, Vertuo and Vertuo Plus.

Let’s have a look at the features of popular Nespresso machines:

Nespresso Inissia:

  • Compact espresso maker by Nespresso.
  • Delivers 19-bar pressure pump power.
  • Fast 25-second preheat time.
  • Two adjustable cup sizes for espresso or lungo.
  • Folding drip tray can accommodate small or tall cups.
  • 24 oz water tank
  • Energy saving mode turns machine off automatically after 9 minutes of no-use.
  • Available as a standalone machine or bundled with Aeroccino electric milk frother.
  • Available in many colors.

Click here to learn more about Nespresso Inissia, read the customer reviews and buy it.

Nespresso Vertuo Plus Espresso and Coffee Maker:

  • Nespresso VertuoLine machine that prepares espresso and coffee drinks.
  • Motorized head automatically shuts and punctures the capsule.
  • Moveable water tank makes it easier for the machine to accommodate to your counter space. The water reservoir can be moved to the back or sides of the machine.
  • Patented extracting technology called Centrifusion brews coffee by rapidly spinning the coffee capsule while saturating it with water for a full and even extraction.
  • Machine automatically adjusts parameters to optimal settings for each capsule. It identifies capsules by reading the barcode on the rim.
  • Brews sizes: 1.35 oz for espresso, 8 oz for coffee and 14 oz for Alto capsules.
  • VertuoPlus is available bundled with Aeroccino milk frother or without it.

Click here to learn more about Nespresso Vertuo Plus, read the customer reviews and buy it.

Nespresso Capsules:

Since there are two type of Nespresso machines, there are also two type of Nespresso capsules:

Nespresso OriginalLine Capsules:

One of the great things about OriginalLine is that it has a great variety to choose from. There’s the capsules available officially from Nespresso, and then there’s Nespresso-compatible capsules, which are capsules made by other brands but are certified to be compatible with Nespresso OriginalLine machines.

OriginalLine capsules are available in many different roasts, blends and flavors. Some brands even make capsules for hot chocolate and tea, which expands the use of an OriginalLine machine.

Nespresso VertuoLine Capsules:

Unlike OriginalLine, VertuoLine capsules are only available from Nespresso. And there’s a number of blends and roasts available to choose from, but it is limited in comparison to what’s available for OriginalLine. On the other hand, VerutoLine is relatively new, so we might see more available for it soon.

VertuoLine capsules are available in three sizes: Espresso capsules, coffee capsules and Alto capsules, which are made for brewing larger 14 oz cups.

Is Nespresso Instant Coffee?

No, none of Nespresso’s capsules is filled with instant coffee. The aluminum capsules pack fresh ground coffee and remain properly sealed to keep freshness until you use it.

Making Milk-Based Drink Using Nespresso:

Unlike Dolce Gusto, Nespresso machines don’t have powdered milk capsules. Instead, you use fresh milk that you can heat and froth using Aeroccino milk frother or your choice of other frother. This means that the quality of a Nespresso drink is more authentic when it comes to milk based drinks.

Can Keurig K-Cups be Used in a Nespresso Machine?

No, these are entirely different systems and can’t use each other’s pods.

Can I Use Verismo Pods in a Nespresso Machine?

No, although the look similar to Nespresso’s OriginalLine capsules, you still can’t use them in a Nespresso machine. If you’re a fan of Starbucks though, you can buy their coffee capsules made for Nespresso.

Can Nespresso Machines make Drinks other Than Coffee?

Since OriginalLine Nespresso machines are compatible with capsules from other brands, you’ll find that some brands offer tea and hot chocolate capsules. Nespresso VertuoLine though, can only make coffee and espresso, as well as espresso based drinks.

Can You Use Nespresso Pods in Other Compatible Machines?

If we’re talking about OriginalLine capsules, then yes, you’ll find machines from other brands that can brew Nespresso and Nespresso-compatible pods.

Which One Do You Choose?

The main difference between Dolce Gusto and Nespresso is:

  • Dolce Gusto is more of a beverage center. You can make coffee, but you can also make other beverages.
  • Nespresso is mostly an espresso / coffee maker. It’s not meant to make other beverages.

That makes Dolce Gusto a great choice for someone looking to create and enjoy more variety of drinks. Although we feel like this comes at a price of less freshness than Nespresso, since you’ll be using packed pod that contains powdered milk or flavors/sugar.

On the other hand, making your drink with Nespresso guarantees freshness in coffee and milk. And if you feel like adding flavors, you’ll have control over what you add to your drink.

iCoffee Davinci vs. Express, What’s The Difference Between These Models?

iCoffee single-serve brewers are a great alternative to Keurig coffee makers. If you’re a fan of Keurig’s K-Cup coffee pods or their other beverages, but not necessarily their machines, iCoffee machines make a great choice.

We have compared iCoffee and Keurig in a previous post that you can read here. In this post, we will be comparing two of iCoffee’s models: Davinci vs. Express.

  • Both these coffee makers by iCoffee use the same patented technology to brew K-Cup pods. The machine’s needle not only injects water, but it steam and spins at the same time to fully saturate the coffee ground and extract a balanced flavor.
  • Also, both are compatible with all type of K-Cup pods.

The difference is in their size and capacity:

  • The Davinci is a larger machine, with 55 oz water reservoir. It has a size selector for each cup size and it brews sizes up to 12 oz.
  • The Express also brews up to 12 oz in size. But it doesn’t have a water reservoir. Instead, you fill up the water tank with the amount you want to brew each time. The iCoffee Express is most comparable to the Keurig K15 Mini.

Which One Do You Choose?

Whether you’re picking iCoffee Davinci or Express, you will be getting the same quality of coffee brew. But you’ll have to choose based on your needs:

  • If you’re buying the machine for family use, it’s better to get the Davinci with its large reservoir to avoid refilling the tank many times. Even if you’re a single user of the machine but dislike multiple refills, the Davinci will make a great choice.
  • On the other hand, due to its small size, the Express is perfect for anyone who has limited counter top space. It’s a great choice for single users, too, where the machine won’t be used many times a day. (unless you drink too many cups).

What Is The Best Single Serve Cappuccino Maker For Home?

Making a Cappuccino (or any milk based drink, really) at home can be done easily and at a fraction of the cost, and you can enjoy your drink at any time you want without any wait.

Type of Cappuccino Makers For Home:

There are many different type of Cappuccino makers that can be used at home. There are espresso makers that allow you to make your coffee drink from scratch, and it can be quite intimidating for a beginner, or there are the one-touch system that make you a drink with a simple touch of a button.

In this post, we’re going to focus on one-touch systems, which are also available in two kinds:

Pod Systems: These are coffee makers that rely on special pre-measured coffee pods or capsules like K-Cups, Dolce Gusto pods or Nespresso capsules. This type of espresso/coffee maker is the most convenient as you don’t even need to measure your coffee ground. All you have to do is place a pod and hit a button and everything will be done for you.

  • Pros: Very convenient. Almost no clean up required after use (Clean up after a few uses)
  • Cons: Buying coffee pods can get expensive over time. But it is still way less expensive than buying your drink at a coffee shop.

Pod-free Espresso/coffee maker: This type of coffee maker doesn’t use any type of pods. Instead, it uses coffee ground. You can find some one-touch cappuccino makers that use coffee ground instead of pods.

  • Pros: As convenient  and quick as as a pod system. No ongoing pod costs.
  • Cons: clean up is required after every use.

Best Single-Serve Cappuccino/Espresso Makers With Pods:

VertuoPlus is one of Nespresso’s VertuoLine machines. These machines are able to brew coffee and espresso using Nespresso’s VertuoLine capsules. How Dolce Gusto Pods Work:

Dolce Gusto pods are available in many variety of coffee and non-coffee drinks. But there is something that we need to point out, and since we’re talking about Cappucino here, we’ll use Dolce Gusto’s Cappuccino pods to explain how it works:

When you’re making a milk-based drink by Dolce Gusto, there are two steps:

  • First one is the brewing the coffee pod.
  • Second is a a milk pod, which makes the Cappuccino drink complete.

How Is This Different Than Nespresso?

When making a Nespresso drink, you’re only brewing coffee out of the capsule, and frothing fresh milk using the Aeroccino frother. With Dolce Gusto, everything is packed into a pod, including the milk. This is important to note so you know that using Dolce Gusto, you’re not getting fresh milk, and there could be added sugar/flavors or ingredients that some people prefer to avoid. While with Nespresso, you’re guaranteed coffee with no additives unless you add other ingredients yourself.

Nespresso Essenza Mini with Aeroccino:

Essenza Mini is another great option from Nespresso, yet it is not the same as the VertuoPlus we previously talked about. Essenza Mini is one of Nespresso’s OriginalLine espresso makers. Unlike VertuoPlus, it only makes espresso and espresso based drinks, and it uses OriginalLine capsules which are different than VertuoLine capsules.

The great thing about Nespresso OriginalLine is that you’ll find a variety of capsules from Nespresso as well as other Nespresso-compatible brands. There are also non-official refillable pods that you can use to brew your own ground coffee.

Features of Essenza Mini:

  • Very compact machine, ultra light.
  • 2 programmable sizes for espresso and lungo.
  • Quick heat up time under 30 seconds.
