It’s a coffee maker that not only does single-serve without pods, but also many serving sizes up to a full 10-cup pot. It’s a great option for someone who needs a variety of serving sizes and no commitment to any type of pods. But I’m not here to discuss the Ninja coffee bar, but another member of the Ninja family; The Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System. Watch How The Brewer Works:

What Is The Cold Brew Option in the Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System?

In the Hot and Cold Brew system, there’s two type of cold drink options: Over ice and Cold brew. Over Ice is just what its name indicates, you brew your coffee or tea hot over ice to make your iced drink. But how does the Cold Brew option work?

Cold Brew is the process of making coffee using cold water instead of hot, and letting it steep for over 8 hours. The Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed system doesn’t do that, but it does something similar to the process. When selecting the Cold Brew option, your coffee or tea will brew at a lower temperature of 110F. The steeping time is from 10 to 15 minutes. Brewing coffee or tea at lower temperature usually results in a smoother non-bitter flavor. The brew is also stronger, so as the ice melts, it does not get diluted but the water only adds to the flavor and coldness of the drink.

Serving Sizes of the Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System:

Like mentioned above, one of the great features of Ninja’s brewing systems is the variety of serving sizes. Here’s the sizes you’ll be able to brew (volumes vary slightly from one brew type to another, these volumes are for Classic brew type):

  • Cup: 9.5 oz
  • XL Cup: 11.5 oz
  • Travel Mug: 14 oz
  • XL Multi-serve: 18 oz

Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System vs. Ninja Coffee Bar, Which Do You Pick?

In the beginning of this post, I mentioned that the Ninja Coffee Bar is a popular choice for a machine that does it all serving sizes, including single-serve, without the use of pods.

Between the Ninja Coffee Bar and Hot and Cold Brewed System, which do you choose?

  • As a coffee maker, there’s no difference between the two brewers. Both can make the same serving sizes and same brew types (Except for Cold Brew).
  • The biggest difference here is that the Ninja Coffee Bar is a coffee maker only. The Hot and Cold Brewed system is a coffee and tea maker.
  • With the Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed system you can select from 5 coffee types (strength) and 5 tea types. The Ninja Coffee Bar has 5 coffee selections only.

So your choice is rather easy here. Do you need a coffee maker or a brewer that can does both coffee and tea drinks? Also, would Cold Brew be appealing to you as a drink option? Since it’s only available in the Hot and Cold Brewed System.

Ninja Single Serve Coffee Bar System vs. Keurig, How Do They Compare?

Ninja Coffee Bar is a complete coffee brewing system that makes an array of serving sizes including full carafe, half carafe and single serve. We’ve already compared Ninja’s full coffee maker to Keurig 2.0. However, since we like to focus on single-serve coffee makers on our website, we’re going to be talking about a specific model of Ninja Coffee Bar, CF112, which is a pod-free single serve coffee maker.

If you enjoy different kinds of coffee drinks, you might find the Ninja Coffee Bar System to be quite worth having.

Explaining Brew Types and Size Serving of Ninja Coffee Bar Single-Serve System:

One of the best features of Ninja Coffee Bar is the variety of coffee brew types it can make. It has 5 brew types, to be specific:

  • Classic Brew: a classic, balanced and smooth cup of coffee.
  • Rich Brew: a balanced flavor, like the Classic, but with more intensity for those who prefer a stronger flavor.
  • Over-Ice: designed especially to make hot coffee brewed over ice, but never tastes watered-down.
  • Specialty: If you want to make a specialty coffee drink, this option makes you a coffee concentrate (4oz) that is very strong in taste to resemble a shot of espresso that is traditionally used for these type of drinks.
  • Cafe Forte: a Ninja exclusive, this brew type makes a full-bodied and complex coffee brew. It makes 8 oz of coffee, so this is a perfect option for someone who prefers a strong brew.

As for cup sizes and servings, Ninja includes the following table in the manual for approximate coffee volume for each brew type:

Ninja Coffee Bar vs. Keurig, What’s The Difference?

Again, we’re here comparing Ninja Coffee Bar CF112 the Single-serve to the Keurig, which is possibly the most popular single-serve brewer out there.

The biggest difference between Ninja coffee bar and Keurig is

  • Keurig relies on K-cups for its single-serve brewing. Coffee ground can be used with reusable k-cup filters.
  • Ninja is a pod-free system. You don’t need any type of pods to brew coffee, just your favorite coffee ground.

Cup Sizes:

  • When it comes to cup sizes, most Keurig brewers brew up to 10 oz for the classic Keurig brewers or up to 18 oz on the Keurig 2.0 brewers.
  • Ninja Coffee Bar brews up to 18 oz, too.

Brew Type:

  • Classic Keurig brewers don’t have any settings for brew strength. The taste of your coffee will depend on the K-Cup you’re brewing. For Keurig 2.0, and depending on the model, you get brew strength and temperature customization. However, the taste will mostly depend on the type of K-Cup you’re brewing.
  • On the Ninja Coffee Brewing system, you have 5 brew type to choose from. This includes the specialty option for making drinks like lattes or cappuccinos.

Which One To Choose?

  • If coffee is all you want to make, then Ninja Coffee Maker is a great choice. It offers a good variety of coffee drinks and serving sizes. And the fact that it uses ground coffee means you won’t have to spend a lot of money on any special kind of pods.
  • If you enjoy a variety of hot or cold drinks, then a Keurig is considered a good choice since it is a ‘beverage center’ rather than just a coffee maker. K-Cups are available in a wide selection of brands and drinks like coffee, tea, hot chocolate, Hot Cider and a lot more.
